  • On Jan. 2, the American Heroes Café at Festival Foods hosted a celebration for Kenosha Army veteran Julius Mianecki's 95th birthday, where Navy Rear Admiral Chaplain Peter Muschinske offered a prayer + remarks.  Kenosha News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Holy Communion Episcopal dedicated a stained-glass window to honor Roy Clare, a church organist who has played for 83 years and recently celebrated his 100th birthday, recognizing his long service to the community.  Kenosha News
  • Downtown Kenosha hosts the perennial Snow Daze Festival on Jan. 24 (featuring over 40 ice sculptures and special deals at local businesses). Attendees can enjoy music, free skate check-outs at Veterans Memorial Park and a complimentary city streetcar ride.  Kenosha.com
  • After the formal agreement expired, Carthage College and the Kenosha Dinosaur Discovery Museum agreed to continue their collaboration, with a new lab set to open to the public while the city ensures proper care of nearly 200,000 fossils according to federal law.  WGTD

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kenosha Unified School District will host the 68th Band-O-Rama on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Indian Trail High School and Academy with nearly 1,400 student musicians. Performances start at noon and 6:30 p.m.; $10 tickets (max three per person) must be bought in advance and the event will be livestreamed.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Kenosha Unified School District voters will face a contest as six candidates run for two school board seats — a primary on Feb. 17 will narrow the field to four for the general election on April 7.  Kenosha County Eye

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Nitrile, a shy 2-year-old dog weighing 63lb, is ready for adoption today at the Wisconsin Humane Society Kenosha Campus and quickly becomes playful once comfortable.
