- ➤ Goddard School in Pleasant Prairie at 7420 91st Ave. is hosting a children’s book drive through Feb. 27 to collect new and gently used books — aiming to boost its library for early learners. Kenosha News
- ➤ High school seniors from Kenosha & Racine get free help applying for Mahone Foundation scholarships. They can attend workshops on Feb. 11 in Racine at Bray Center YMCA, 6 to 8 p.m., or on Feb. 21 in Kenosha at Emerging Leaders Academy, 9 to 11 a.m. Kenosha.com
- ➤ Four local teens received music scholarships as top finalists at Diva Quest 2026 (a local competition) in Kenosha, highlighting the event's celebration of musical talent. Kenosha News
- ➤ Gateway Technical College's interim president said on Feb. 4 that neither state support nor local tax levies can fund needed innovations, so the college will seek alternatives such as endowments and partnerships with Microsoft & Eli Lilly while searching for a permanent president. WGTD

- ➤ A controversial proposal to build the Red Oak Ridge Energy Center—a massive natural gas-fired power plant near the Village of Somers—is drawing significant public opposition while the Wisconsin Public Service Commission reviews the project; no final vote or timeline has been set.
