ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fourteen families left their apartment on 43rd Avenue after a kitchen fire on Thursday rendered it uninhabitable; firefighters rescued four residents and two were hospitalized. Local aid (American Red Cross, Wagner Family Fire Fund, and Journey Disaster Response) is helping with temporary housing as families search for a long-term solution.  TMJ-4

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha selected Janiya Y. as the recipient of the 2025 Shirley Madrigrano & Natalie Lee Arts Foundation Arts Member of the Year Scholarship, honoring her achievements in the arts. The award highlights the club’s lasting support for local talent.  Kenosha News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • KUSD’s 54th Annual Districtwide Student Art Show will open Saturday, March 14 at 10 a.m. at the Kenosha Public Museum and will feature over 1,000 artworks by elementary, middle and high school students — the exhibit runs through April 19 and includes teacher meet-and-greet events on March 16 and 17.  Kenosha County Eye
  • At Lakeview K-8 Academy, about 90 students participated in an engineering fair today and the sixth-grade class applied problem solving techniques in a special experiment (a unique approach to hands-on learning).  Kenosha News
  • More than 900 students in grades 5-12 performed at the Kenosha Unified Choral Festival on Feb. 21 (drawing a large local crowd).  Kenosha News
  • UW-Parkside plans an initiative that will integrate artificial intelligence into its curriculum and campus operations to boost student skills with emerging technology. The program is expected to roll out later this year.  Kenosha News
  • The Mary Lou & Arthur F. Mahone Foundation announced the hiring of Stacia Thompson as its Chief Workforce Strategist to help low and moderate income minority students connect to internships and career paths in STEM education, and she will lead its Career Exploration Organizing Mentoring program.  WGTD

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Kenosha Water Utility plans to replace 700 lead water line laterals in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods at no cost to homeowners—financed by state grants—with a citywide program offering low-interest loans for additional replacements; officials reported that 2,500 have been replaced and 7,000 remain.  WGTD
