- ➤ Pleasant Prairie will open applications in March for the Everyone Plays Scholarship Program offering up to $150 per child to help cover summer fees. Supported by HARIBO of America — Kenosha and Lake County residents age 17 and younger with financial need will see processing take about two to three weeks. WLIP
- ➤ The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha received a Hero of Youth award from Boys & Girls Clubs of America for its advocacy in supporting over 18,000 youth through afterschool programs and policy work. CEO Tara Panasewicz said the club remains committed to highlighting local youth needs. Kenosha.com
- ➤ Blak Coffee, Kenosha’s first Black-owned coffee shop, builds community during Black History Month by offering Thanksgiving meal kits and holiday supplies while serving as a welcoming hub for locals & neighbors. TMJ-4

- ➤ Kenosha will host its annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Saturday, Mar. 14 featuring a 2K Guinness Fun Run starting at 9:30 a.m. near Captain Mike’s (5118 Sixth Ave) and a parade at 10:45 a.m. with select downtown streets closed until after Library Park. Kenosha County Eye
- ➤ Downtown Kenosha’s White Lilac music venue reopened after an exterior wall collapsed eight months ago. Co-owner Kelly Mackay said community donations + support raised over $26,000 to fund repairs and bring back live music. TMJ-4
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Gateway Technical College Foundation awarded over $230,000 in scholarships to local students. Recipients are 27% more likely to graduate by their third year than their peers. Kenosha News
- ➤ On Friday morning, students at Harborside Academy held a walkout along Sheridan Road while displaying signs with strong language as staff supervised safety (officials said the event was student-organized and classes continued for those remaining). Kenosha County Eye
- ➤ The Kenosha Unified School District board unanimously approved a new search policy and will install walk-through metal detectors at all six high schools after safety committee recommendations from December 2024. The policy allows searches on reasonable suspicion (it prohibits strip searches) and upgrades visitor security; installation is expected soon. Kenosha County Eye
