Good morning, Kenosha.

Leadership Kenosha will celebrate the graduation of its 2025 to 2026 cohort on Thursday, May 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Circa on Seventh, honoring 19 emerging local leaders + recognizing two awards for outstanding leadership.

Dr. Veronica King, who grew up in foster care and set her path at age 10, has spent over 30 years helping Kenosha residents through social work, behavioral health, and education—and now teaches Substance Use Disorder Counseling at Waukesha County Technical College while urging vulnerable youth to pursue their dreams.

On Feb. 24, the KUSD school board approved purchasing 18 walk-through metal detectors and 15 handheld wands for the district’s six high schools.

Street lights along 52nd Street (between 39th Ave and Green Bay Road) were off from Monday night until Tuesday night as crews worked to fix them, and officials advised drivers to slow down after dark.

Downtown Kenosha's nearly 100-year-old Marina Shores building, which once hosted community events and suffered water damage last winter, may be demolished after its owners requested city approval because repairs are estimated at $4 million to $5 million; some residents favor preserving its history while others support new development.
