  • Kenosha crossing guard Karen Ovitt marked 50 years of service (she began on Feb. 4, 1976) by keeping students safe at several schools, and Safety Officer Tyler Cochran along with Mayor David Bogdala honored her milestone this month.  Kenosha.com
  • The Katherine Marks Legacy Foundation will honor her legacy on Sunday, Mar. 22 at Kenosha Civil War Museum with a (CommuniTEA) awards program starting at 5 p.m. and a torch-lighting at dusk. BUSINESS NEWS

  • Federal officials found no major impacts in a draft review of the proposed Hard Rock casino near I-94, advancing the Menominee Indian Tribe and Hard Rock International project; public comments are open, and officials will decide if the land will be placed into trust before governor approval.  WLIP

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tremper High School at 8560 26th Ave. will host the Southeastern Wisconsin School Music Association District Solo and Ensemble Festival from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, organized by KUSD.  Kenosha News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residential garbage collection in Kenosha is starting later today after heavy winds and snow on March 16 prevented waste transfers to the landfill. Officials said crews will clear the backlog first, but all curbside bins will be picked up & recycling will follow its normal schedule.  Kenosha County Eye
