  • On Friday, April 11th the Kenosha YMCA will host the 7th Annual UNITE THE FIGHT Dance Fitness Fundraiser to raise funds for the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA cancer survivor program—people aged 10 or older are invited to join dance sessions led by top instructors and enjoy a raffle, silent auction, refreshments, and a photo booth. The event will take place at the Kenosha YMCA, offering free participation along with a free t-shirt and parking.  Kenosha.com

CRIME NEWS

  • A Kenosha activist with a record of past arrests was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting an officer after an incident outside a downtown bar on March 2 — bail was set at $450 and he is scheduled to return to court on April 25.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A Kenosha woman, Alessandra Dashawn Doby, 26, was charged with driving while intoxicated and injuring an inmate when she crashed a Ford Escape into a jail transport van carrying two inmates around 1:49 a.m. Sunday at the 75th Street and 60th Avenue intersection—she appeared in intake court Monday without cash bail after a previous OWI case was dismissed less than three years ago.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Two Kenosha police officers were given brief suspensions after an internal review found they missed a hidden gun on 16-year-old Jaheem Wright during his arrest at Indian Trail High School and Academy in December — Pittman lost one day of pay while Kennedy lost two days, and both will get extra training.  Kenosha County Eye

  • At the Pritzker Military Museum and Library in Somers, the 'Remembered Light' exhibit features 25 stained-glass art pieces made from glass shards collected by Army Chaplain Frederick McDonald during World War II—each piece honors the lost work of skilled artisans in old cathedrals.  Kenosha News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Three Kenosha police officers—Tyler Schend, Vincent Hubli, and Arturo Burgos-Gutierrez—received Lifesaving Awards after their quick CPR saved a woman, a toddler, and a teenager on Nov. 29, Dec. 30, and Jan. 11; the Police and Fire Commission presented the awards to honor their actions.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Kenosha Mayor David Bogdala said Monday that federal budget cuts could hit the city's transit system and nonprofits since 80% of transit funding comes from the federal government. He noted that cuts in Community Development Block Grant funds and federal staffing changes made coordination harder — steps that may force the city to adjust bus routes and nonprofit services.  WLIP
