  • The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha Golf Foundation expanded its youth golf programs during 2025, serving 86 participants and awarding 18 scholarships, and is now accepting 2026 applications to remove cost barriers for local families. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Severe storms swept through Somers Tuesday night, causing heavy damage and power outages while a radar-indicated tornado threatened areas between Highway H & Highway 31 and between Highway L & Highway E, prompting emergency crews to restrict travel and begin cleanup.  WLIP

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Green Bay Packers players spoke at Park High School on Wednesday to teach students key lessons in self-confidence and hard work (the event aimed to boost motivation among future leaders).  Kenosha News
  • The Westosha Central Board of Education chose Paige Sefton to fill the Bristol-area seat left by former president Steve Richter, who resigned earlier this year amid controversy over the district's locker room policy. Sefton, a parent and ex-PTO leader (first meeting May 5), will serve until April 2027.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Sonnenberg Schools (grades 4-12) will begin classes in the former Jefferson Lighthouse building next school year, providing a new space for students and staff.  Kenosha News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials warned residents and businesses on April 13 about fake planning invoices that urged immediate wire transfers for unrequested permits. They advised anyone receiving a suspicious invoice to verify it by calling the City of Kenosha Department of City Development at 262-653-4030.  WLIP
  • Drivers face significant traffic changes as a soft closure of Highway W starts today with a full closure set to begin in early May and continue through October, while county officials and WisDOT keep local access open using a detour via Highway C, Highway KD & Highway CK.  Kenosha County Eye

HEALTH NEWS

  • County Executive Samantha Kerkman announced that Kenosha County residents can safely dispose of unused medications through six free events on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at sites including Somers Fire - Rescue and BMO Bank where most events will also offer naloxone training.  Kenosha County Eye

  • Kenosha Humane Society is featuring Congo, a friendly one-year-old 66-pound dog ready for adoption today. The shelter has already vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped him, and visitors can meet him at the campus.  Kenosha.com
