- ➤ WPR has named Lee Rayburn as the new host of its popular midday call-in show on WGTD. The station hopes his fresh approach + community focus will boost local engagement. WGTD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UW-Parkside will hold its annual Community Partnership Celebration and present an Outstanding Partnership Award for the multi-year collaboration between ArtRoot's Wall Poems of Racine Project & Professor Carey Watters’ advanced graphic design course, as the university announced Thursday. - ➤ Kenosha Unified School District officials outlined plans for metal detectors at six high schools to screen student belongings. The systems — similar to those at concerts — will require removing items like laptops and tablets while backpacks remain, and alternate screening areas will be available for students with disabilities. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin DNR delivered 40,000 salmon fingerlings to local nonprofit KSFCA that supports the sportfishing industry and protects Lake Michigan's natural resources. The group will care for the fingerlings as part of its ongoing conservation work. Kenosha News
- ➤ Minor flooding is underway along the Fox River near New Munster with water expected to rise into moderate flood stage and affect areas in Wheatland and Salem Lakes. Forecasters say the river will crest at about 13.6 feet early Saturday morning — matching levels seen in October 2019. WLIP
