ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Transportation officials removed shredded paper debris from southbound Interstate 41 in Kenosha County after a semitruck rollover crash occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. near County A on Wednesday—officials reopened all lanes by 9:40 p.m.  WLIP

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local entrepreneur Landon McKinnis of Kenosha got an email confirming he will appear on Shark Tank today after a viral TikTok boost sold out his inventory of Go Nutz electric razors—he flew to Los Angeles for a quick two-minute pitch filmed on September 18 and now hopes to secure investors for his small business.  Kenosha News

CRIME NEWS

  • A Racine County man already serving 30 years in prison was extradited this week to Kenosha to face a charge of first-degree sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl after an alleged attack in June 2022 at a Salem Lakes home — he could face up to 60 years in prison.  Kenosha County Eye

CULTURE NEWS

  • Harborside Academy art students created nine artworks based on Shalom Center's 'Light The Way Forward' theme that will be on display at the Annual Celebration on May 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kenosha Country Club. Three pieces will be auctioned—proceeds will support the center's food, shelter and guidance programs.  Kenosha.com
  • Kenosha’s historic Durkee Mansion (a local landmark) is offering free self-guided tours on select Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. through Oct. 19.  Kenosha News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials said a new detention center in Caledonia designed to help troubled youth will begin filling 48 beds early next month with stays averaging six months. The $40 million facility was built with state funds to offer a more supportive space than the old center on Taylor Ave — welcoming youth from Racine, Kenosha and beyond.  WGTD
  • Mayor David Bogdala announced a targeted inspection initiative that began on north Sheridan Road and will extend south and to other main corridors in Kenosha—inspectors are checking housing and commercial properties and issuing orders to fix trash and debris issues.  WLIP
  • A longtime Kenosha police officer filed a federal Title VII discrimination lawsuit in late March, claiming he was skipped for a sergeant promotion—despite being the top candidate—because he is gay. The case names the city and both former and current police chiefs, while the city has not yet been served with the lawsuit.  Kenosha County Eye
  • The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department changed its radio dispatch policy for lower-priority calls on April 1 to protect sensitive information and reduce radio traffic, as explained by Captain Eric Klinkhammer in a March 11 email — the Kenosha Police Department chose to keep its current system to ensure full situational awareness among officers.  Kenosha County Eye
