- ➤ Officials confirmed a high-end EF-1 tornado hit Somers on April 17, causing downed trees, blocked roads and structural damage in parts of the county, while recovery efforts continue and no serious injuries were reported. WLIP

- ➤ Gateway announced this week that candidate Christopher Reber is no longer seeking the college presidency after he accepted another university leadership role (despite earlier controversy over his focus on diversity and inclusion). ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A flood warning was in effect for the Fox River near New Munster on Friday, April 17 when water levels reached 13.8 feet at 5:00 a.m.—officials said the river was expected to crest near 14.3 feet, potentially flooding low-lying neighborhoods. WLIP
- ➤ Heavy rain overwhelmed Kenosha’s sewer system early this week, so the water utility diverted diluted wastewater into storm sewers and Lake Michigan to prevent home damage.
