COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Floodwaters are receding in Salem Lakes as officials offer cleaning supplies and bottled water at Village Hall and provide free well water test kits from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to submit photos of flooding damage (with location details) to help document recovery.  Kenosha County Eye

CULTURE NEWS

  • Community leaders will host the Keys to Kenosha launch event on Friday, May 1 at 9:00 a.m. at the Kenosha Public Library (Simmons Branch) to preview a fall festival that offers free tours of the city’s historic buildings.  Kenosha.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Friday, May 8, the Kenosha Fire Department will burn a vacant home at 2214 57th Street as part of a live fire drill. Crews will stage at 7 a.m., with fire starting at 9 a.m.—the final burn at 2 p.m. will disrupt traffic and show visible smoke.  Kenosha County Eye
  • County and state officials toured Highway W on Tuesday, Apr. 28 (after recent heavy flooding) to assess ongoing erosion along the Fox River that caused road closures near the fairgrounds. They will pursue long-term fixes to protect the roadway from recurring damage.  Kenosha County Eye

HEALTH NEWS

  • Three customers reported worms in drinks at the Paddock Lake McDonald's drive-thru, and management had noticed the issue from a sewage receptacle under the soda machine. A health inspection cited tile damage from recent flooding (prompting pest control and tile repairs) before a reinspection is scheduled.  TMJ-4
  • Multiple customers reported worms in drinks at a Paddock Lake McDonald’s on Apr. 27, prompting a health inspection that confirmed damaged flooring and contamination concerns – the drive-thru soda machine was removed from service and customers are now served indoors.  Kenosha County Eye
