ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire early Tuesday morning at approximately 3:00 a.m. destroyed a building on the 6600 block of 120th Avenue—under renovation to become Elsie Mae’s Pies and Pints—and firefighters had the blaze under control by about 4:05 a.m. with no injuries while investigators probe its cause. WLIP
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Kamar K. Hall, 29, from Chicago is accused of breaking into a Pleasant Prairie apartment clubhouse on April 21 to steal a coin machine and damage property. He was charged on April 28, has bail set at $15,000—he remains in custody and will have a preliminary hearing on May 2. Kenosha County Eye
- ➤ Chad R. Ebert, 34, remains in jail after he failed to appear in court on felony elder abuse and misdemeanor charges from a violent fight with his father at a Washington Road home in Kenosha—he is set to return to court on June 3. Kenosha County Eye
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today at KTEC High School, seniors celebrated the first Signing Day to honor their achievements and community partnerships with industry and higher education. Two seniors received the prestigious 3M Transformational Scholarship — Rayna Soens and Blake Krauter plan to pursue careers in nursing and robotics. Kenosha.com
- ➤ The Kenosha Unified School District Board unanimously approved a $1.5 million capital projects plan Tuesday to repair roofs at Whittier School, replace a deteriorating parking lot at Indian Trail High School, and update doors in several schools — officials also discussed plans to install ADA-accessible playground equipment at Frank Elementary School though work is expected to continue after the 2025-26 school year. - ➤ State Rep. Amanda Nedweski from Pleasant Prairie introduced Gail’s Law on Monday to require insurers to cover follow-up imaging tests for women with dense breast tissue, aiming to ease costly treatment gaps. She also presented a proposal called Red Tape Reset to repeal outdated state rules and reduce economic burdens in her district—including Kenosha—supporting both health care and fiscal relief.
