COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local residents can visit the free 3rd Annual Success Fair on Friday, June 13 at the Kenosha County Job Center to meet local employers and community groups. The event runs from 1 to 3 p.m.—employer check-in starts at noon and will offer help in job searches and other services.  Kenosha County Eye
  • The Pleasant Prairie Police Department will host its annual bicycle rodeo on May 17 in cooperation with the Kenosha Area Noon Optimist Club & Great Lakes Cycling.  Kenosha News

CRIME NEWS

  • A Wheatland man fired one round in his backyard, threatened to commit suicide, and locked his wife in a closet during a domestic dispute on May 14—he was charged with felony false imprisonment and disorderly conduct while armed, with bail set at $1,000 and a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 21.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A Kenosha mother already facing felony charges was accused of punching her 9-year-old son and dragging him up a staircase on May 14 at 8:25 p.m.—adding new child abuse allegations to her record.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Dante Lamont Gayden, 32, is charged with felonies after he allegedly brought a loaded Glock 19 to a Kenosha tavern, touched a woman at a gaming machine, and was later found with the gun during a police search—bail was set at $10,000 with a hearing scheduled for May 17.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A 45-year-old Kenosha man was convicted May 14 after a one-day jury trial for a July 2023 incident when police found him passed out drunk behind the wheel of a running truck with a stolen firearm in the center console.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Four people were charged in Kenosha County Circuit Court for crimes including domestic abuse, drunk driving, and felony bail jumping from incidents that occurred between May 6 and May 13 — penalties range from six to 18 years in prison.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A Twin Lakes man is wanted on a $5,000 arrest warrant after Kenosha County prosecutors charged him with three felonies for exchanging food stamp benefits for cash — he allegedly filed a false fraud report to cover it up.  Kenosha County Eye

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On May 14th, the Kenosha Police Department held its annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service to honor officers who died in the line of duty—featuring a moving rendition of the national anthem by Andrea Squires and remarks from local law enforcement leaders. More than 100 community members attended as the service included readings of fallen officers’ names and prayers for their families.  Kenosha County Eye
