ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities identified 77-year-old Wayne N. Stade as the pedestrian fatally struck just after 3 a.m. on May 13 while attempting to cross northbound Highway 31 near 35th Street in Somers— the driver immediately called 911 and remained uninjured and cooperative.  Kenosha County Eye

CRIME NEWS

  • A Kenosha man accused of leading a reckless high-speed chase nearly two years ago faced new criminal charges for making threatening jailhouse calls—his first court appearance on March 24 set his cash bail at $25,000.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Richard J. Borman, 34, continues to be released on bond while facing charges in eight cases that include domestic violence, drug possession, and more than a dozen counts of bail jumping—raising concerns over his repeated releases.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Kenosha Police warned residents about a rising crypto ATM scam that cost some victims up to $60,000—local tech educator Amy Raemont said her relative lost nearly $10,000 after following scammer instructions.  TMJ-4
  • Kenosha man Ken Larson was attacked by two loose dogs while walking his 14-year-old dog Casey on 76th Street and 33rd Avenue, which left him injured and his pet lost — county health officials later declared the dogs dangerous and barred them from residing here.  TMJ-4

  • Kenosha Unified School District earned the NAMM Foundation’s Best Communities for Music Education award for the eighth year in a row, showing its strong music programs and community support. Officials provided details on funding, class participation, and facilities which were reviewed by WolfBrown (a respected arts research firm).  WLIP
  • Kenosha Unified was honored on Monday, May 19 for the NAMM Foundation’s Best Communities for Music Education designation, marking its eighth consecutive award. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lamparek Creek in Mount Pleasant is almost fully redesigned as the Stantec team submitted the no-rise model for review—this step helps keep flood levels steady. Microsoft and local partners will start a six-to-seven-month restoration in late summer to improve the creek's water quality and habitat.  Kenosha.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Federal officials rejected a compact amendment from the Forest County Potawatomi that would have reduced state payments and removed an expiration date, clearing a path for the Menominee tribe’s $360 million casino project in Kenosha. The project—planned for 60 acres west of Interstate 94 with a Hard Rock casino, hotel, and restaurants—is under environmental review while final approval rests with Gov. Tony Evers.  WLIP
  • Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman delivered her third State of the County address to the County Board Tuesday evening, praising strong economic wins such as Eli Lilly’s $3 billion expansion and Microsoft’s property purchase while promising continued budget discipline and transparency through new online tools and outreach—she also marked the county’s 175th anniversary and announced a courthouse celebration on August 24.
