ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Pleasant Prairie woman, Dawn Smith, suffered life-threatening injuries on May 14 after a seizure caused her to crash her vehicle on Green Bay Road — rescuers used the jaws of life to pull her from the wreck and she has undergone several surgeries while still fighting for her life.  TMJ-4

  • Aamari Tahir Gray, 19, from Pleasant Prairie is being held in Kenosha County Jail on $50,000 cash bail—he is wanted in Illinois for a violent shooting and robbery.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A Kenosha woman, 38-year-old Stephanie E. Correa, faces felony elder abuse and misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges after she allegedly threw a toy box at her 77-year-old grandmother during a dispute over laundry on May 20 — officers reported the grandmother suffered a bleeding hand and a criminal complaint was filed two days later.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A 29-year-old man from Kenosha fled the scene after crashing into a home on May 22 at 10:15 p.m.—he now faces a felony charge for the hit-and-run that injured another driver.  Kenosha County Eye

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Nearly 839,000 Wisconsin residents are set to travel 50 miles or more from home over Memorial Day weekend—up about 23,000 from last year—and AAA forecasts over 45.1 million Americans will travel, with 751,600 Wisconsinites expected to drive while gas prices stay relatively low. This surge reflects a steady recovery in holiday travel demand as roads remain busy during key travel windows.  WLIP

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Kenosha reminded residents on Wednesday to trim grass under 8 inches, clear weeds from yards and sidewalks, and trim branches that could overhang public walkways—city inspectors will check properties and encourage reports of overgrown vegetation.  WLIP
  • Memorial Day events are planned across Kenosha County this holiday weekend—participants can attend a wreath-laying in Somers on Saturday, a service in Union Grove on Sunday, and multiple ceremonies in Kenosha, Silver Lake, Twin Lakes, and Pleasant Prairie on Monday to honor veterans.
