COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Memorial Day events will take place across the county this weekend. Programs include a remembrance event at Somers' Pritzker Military Museum + Library today from 11 a.m., a service in Union Grove on Sunday at 11 a.m., and ceremonies at Navy Park and other local venues on Monday.  Kenosha.com
  • County officials plan to unveil a renovated playground with expanded accessibility at Old Settlers Park plus kick off the 2026 Rhythm on the Lake concert series. The ribbon cutting is set for June 11 at 5:30 p.m. at 24100 75th St.  Kenosha County Eye

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new restaurant for wine connoisseurs is open in Pleasant Prairie & serves carefully crafted bites and custom wine blends for local diners.  Kenosha News

CULTURE NEWS

  • County parks will host free summer concerts, movie nights, yoga and Pilates sessions beginning in June, county officials announced—bringing a mix of familiar activities and a new outdoor reading series. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for a comfortable evening.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Gateway staff and students designed a 10 ft x 41 ft suspended platform for the new 'Above and Beyond' exhibit showing dog tags for over 58,000 Vietnam service members; the platform (crafted by experienced engineering teams) will be installed next month at the Pritzker War Museum and Library in Somers.  WGTD
  • Wisconsin officials released the 2026 Rustic Roads Guide featuring 126 Rustic Roads and five Scenic Byways spanning over 700 miles in 61 counties, promoting scenic routes marked by brown & yellow signs and a 45 mph speed limit. The guide is available in print and online.  WLIP

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gateway Technical College awarded degrees to a record 604 graduates during commencement ceremonies on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 19-20. The milestone marks a historic achievement for the college.  Kenosha News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kenosha residents will not see curbside trash and recycling pickup on Monday, May 25 due to the Memorial Day holiday + all scheduled routes will shift one day with service resuming June 1 while those needing special pickups must contact Public Works in advance.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Tuesday night, the Kenosha County Board of Supervisors voted for a one-year pause on new battery energy storage projects in Wheatland amid safety worries from local residents. Robin Energy Storage said it will check state rules to try to keep the project moving forward.  TMJ-4
