  • Milt Dean, a Vietnam War veteran from Kenosha with decades of community service, was named the inaugural Kenosha County Veteran of the Year and will receive his award at the Veterans Appreciation Summer Picnic—set for noon on Friday, May 30 at the Veterans Memorial Park.  Kenosha News

  • Arthur A. Ahlgren Jr., 38, of Kenosha appeared in court Tuesday—he is accused of assaulting his elderly father with Alzheimer’s and now faces felony elder abuse and disorderly conduct charges.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Elijah William Cook Sr., a 45-year-old man from Bristol, was charged with felony and misdemeanor offenses after he allegedly choked a woman during a domestic altercation at his home on the 7700 block of 128th Avenue; a cash bail of three thousand dollars was set and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 30 (ordered by Kenosha County Circuit Court).  Kenosha County Eye
  • Latrail D. Wyche, a 24-year-old Kenosha resident, appeared in court on stalking charges—a Class I felony—and bail was set at $2,000.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Keyanna Chavez-Diaz, 22, from Waukegan, appeared in court yesterday after allegedly fleeing law enforcement at speeds over 100 mph, and prosecutors asked for $25,000 bail—warning that her actions endangered the community.  Kenosha County Eye

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A recent economic report showed that while Wisconsin had a strong year, Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties are projected to see quicker population declines—with Kenosha expected to drop 17% and Racine and Walworth 14% by 2050 due to low birth and in-migration rates. Local experts recommend changes to federal immigration policy, employment rules and housing codes that could help reduce labor market challenges.  WGTD

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gateway Technical College's board scheduled closed Zoom interviews for five candidates for an interim president position—these meetings are set for Thursday and Friday. The board received 158 applications by the May 14 deadline and aims to have a replacement in place before the current president’s contract ends.  WGTD

  • Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital welcomed neurosurgeon Dr. Hirad Hedayat, Associate Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin, who will provide advanced neurovascular care for patients in the region — his work will help reduce travel needs for specialized treatments.
