EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A Tremper High School chemistry teacher, Amanda Nickel, was suspended for three days without pay after saying everyone is a little bit racist and advising caution near Black people, according to records. The district assigned her a thought partner to help address her remarks. Kenosha County Eye
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials announced Monday that Kenosha’s spring curbside compostables collection service will end on June 5. Residents can still drop off eligible materials at 4071 88th Ave (open Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Kenosha County Eye
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mayor Bogdala defended a Microsoft data center project that passed city review Monday as a long-term investment promising 180 jobs and $16 million in taxes — the 240-acre site west of I-94 and north of Highway 142 uses modern safeguards to limit water and energy concerns. WLIP
- ➤ Officials from Randall, Twin Lakes, and Wheatland are exploring a merger of their fire departments amid concerns over aging equipment and low volunteer numbers. A study funded by the state recommends change for better service, though some residents worry a single department may not cover the area + no final decision has been made. TMJ-4
