  • Kenosha YouTube influencer Tristan Jass, known for his viral trick shots and basketball skills, donated $10,000 to Shalom Center and drew attention by taking on Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo—underscoring his support for local community efforts.  Kenosha News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Yesterday, production began at the new Schutz Container Systems plant off 60th Street in Kenosha where a small staff and automation manufactured plastic blue barrels and intermediate bulk containers. City officials toured the facility as Project Manager Tom Neil said additional lines will be added soon—while the plant is expected to employ 200 workers at full capacity and plans for a second plant for steel drums are underway.  WGTD

  • Donta D. Buckles, 45, from Kenosha was charged with fleeing police after falling asleep at the wheel in a black SUV late last month—he has a prior felony record.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A 76-year-old Kenosha man named Glenn Nagel Love is charged with hit-and-run causing injury after he fled the scene of a crash at the intersection of 75th Street and 41st Avenue on June 4 that injured a woman and led her and her toddler daughter to seek hospital care; his cash bond is set at ($1,000) and his hearing will be on June 13.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A 26-year-old daycare worker accused of abusing a 2-year-old boy at a Kenosha childcare center was held on $10,000 bail—while the boy’s mother publicly accused the center’s owner of dishonesty and damage control.  Kenosha County Eye

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Manny Rios will earn his high school diploma today at Tremper High School’s commencement at Ameche Field at 7 p.m. He was born with half a heart and got a new one on June 17, 2017 (a transplant that gave him a second chance) and has worked with the American Heart Association (helping others in the community).  Kenosha News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Kenosha County Board voted Tuesday to lower the minimum hiring age for sheriff’s deputies from 21 to 19—passing the ordinance 17—5 despite public opposition over concerns about young adults’ brain development. Sheriff David Zoerner said the change aims to help the department compete for top candidates while rigorous screening and education requirements remain in place.  WLIP
