COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bicyclists and breakfast lovers are ready to join the DairyAir Community Bike Ride on Saturday, June 14 as they ride 30 miles from the Veterans Memorial Park in Randall to the Dairy Breakfast at Mighty Grand Dairy Farm in Brighton. The ride begins at 7 a.m with a sheriff’s deputy escort and riders will take the return trip at 9 a.m after a hearty breakfast — a fun way to celebrate local farming.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Kenosha residents will be able to shred up to five bags or boxes of sensitive papers free of charge at Northside Library at 1500 27th Avenue, Southwest Library at 7979 38th Avenue and Kenosha Water Utility at 4401 Green Bay Road on Saturday, June 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.—the service is provided by Shred-It. The city will also hold a second shredding event on October 11 to give residents another safe document disposal option.  Kenosha County Eye

  • Darrell D. Garrett, 43, of Kenosha—who has a history of domestic violence—was charged Friday after he allegedly threatened the mother of his children with a baseball bat and a knife during a late-night incident that police described as terrifying.  Kenosha County Eye
  • On Thursday, June 5, 70-year-old Dean L. Threlkeld from Pleasant Prairie was charged with driving under the influence after deputies found nearly 9 grams of marijuana and a glass pipe in his vehicle—marking his fifth OWI offense.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A 17-year-old Kenosha girl (Nyasia Rochelle Johnson) was taken into custody after allegedly threatening her ex-boyfriend and his brother with a knife during a confrontation last month (she faces charges of disorderly conduct while armed).  Kenosha County Eye

CULTURE NEWS

  • County Executive Samantha Kerkman announced that free outdoor concerts, yoga classes, and movie nights will return to Kenosha County Parks next week — with concerts at Bristol Woods Park and Old Settlers Park, yoga classes at Petrifying Springs Park, and movie nights starting June 20.  Kenosha County Eye

EDUCATION NEWS

  • LakeView Technology Academy moved from its former site at 9948 88th Ave. during an academic year of change and graduated 90 students on Thursday night.  Kenosha News
  • University of Wisconsin-Parkside announced a plan to merge its four academic colleges into a single college—aiming to reduce administrative costs amid budget challenges, and Interim Provost Matt Cecil said the realignment will not affect academic programs or lead to job losses. The move comes as the school faces declining enrollments and a need to stabilize its financial future.  WGTD
