  • At the Kenosha Public Museum, a bell tolled 95 times during a brick dedication ceremony that honored loved ones who died on Wednesday evening — the event was moved indoors from Wolfenbüttel Park because of rain. Community members read names and listened to Amazing Grace as the ceremony, started by Gilbert and Sharon Ostman, helps support local scholarships and the upkeep of the memorial.  Kenosha News

  • A 24-year-old Kenosha man—Damien C. Wess—is facing two felony charges for allegedly driving a getaway car after a shooting at a family party.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A 24-year-old Kenosha man, Arturo L. Martinez III, was charged with ten counts — including felony strangulation, false imprisonment, and threats to injure — after a woman reported months of domestic violence that occurred in front of their young children.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Three suspects were charged with felonies after a grocery store manager’s stolen wallet was used to purchase over $1,200 in gift cards at Walmart last month—Kenosha County Sheriff officials said they are reviewing evidence in the case.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A Kenosha teenager faced six felony charges after allegedly leading deputies on a high-speed chase through residential neighborhoods with three juveniles in the vehicle—two minors reportedly had stolen a relative’s car.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Elijah B. Echols, a 27-year-old Kenosha man with a violent criminal history, is facing three new felony drug charges after police caught him with more than 30 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl and MDMA—he also had marijuana hidden in his body.  Kenosha County Eye

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Kenosha County Board voted 17 to 5 today to let the sheriff’s office hire deputies as young as 19 and allow applications starting at 18.5—this change also cut the college credit minimum for non-sworn applicants from 60 to 40.  Kenosha News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kenosha County officials are urging residents to use local cooling centers during this week’s extreme heat warning. The centers—located in municipal buildings, libraries, and community organizations—offer air-conditioned relief for those without access at home.  Kenosha County Eye
