  • Derek Thompson, 47, of Kenosha, a train accident survivor who lost his legs as a child, has become a local fixture at the busy median near Woodman’s Market where he preaches gospel rap and chalks Bible verses—drivers honked in support as he spread his message of hope.   • A 46 year old convicted child sex offender in Kenosha faced new felony charges after he allegedly brandished a handgun when confronting a man outside his home early Monday morning.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A Kenosha mother, Micaela Elaine Davis, 29, was charged Tuesday with multiple counts of child neglect and animal cruelty—police said they found her apartment filing with feces, urine, and garbage where three young children and a dog lived in dangerous conditions.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Seth A. Geyer, a 39-year-old man from Mount Pleasant, was formally charged in Kenosha County Circuit Court on Monday for allegations related to a 2023 child sex incident after being extradited from state prison — the charges were first filed last October.  Kenosha County Eye

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled in a 5—2 decision that state regulators may force landowners to begin cleaning up PFAS before the chemicals are designated as hazardous. Gov. Tony Evers and environmental advocates praised the ruling while business groups warned it could lead to costly legal battles.  WLIP

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On June 24, 2025, RUSD Superintendent Soren Gajewski said the Joint Finance Committee’s state budget plan would cancel the extra funds from the $190 million Racine Unified referendum and keep per pupil spending flat. State Rep. Tip McGuire warned the proposal could force more school referendums and higher property taxes—concerns echoed by other lawmakers at the Racine forum.  WGTD
