Good morning, Kenosha.

Kenosha’s Historic Preservation Commission will meet today to discuss efforts to save the former Eagles Club building downtown after its owners expressed plans to demolish it for a high-rise apartment building, following damage from a burst water pipe two years ago.

At a Jun. 24 meeting, Kenosha Unified reviewed staffing at the Educational Support Center (only a third work in the building while most serve in schools).

Board members requested clearer data to justify cuts and postponed the funding referendum until April.

Kenosha Unified School District investigated a French teacher’s claim that Indian Trail Assistant Principal Mercilie Toney asked him to add an unearned French credit for her son (Superintendent Jeffrey Weiss later said the allegations were unsubstantiated).

Kenosha County extended its battery storage moratorium (to study environmental and cost impacts) as officials plan future local regulations.

County Executive Samantha Kerkman said residents and staff will use the pause to review evolving technology before approving new proposals.
