ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 69-year-old man died Friday evening in a violent single-vehicle crash on Highway 50 in Salem Lakes — deputies and fire rescue arrived at 6:54 p.m. and pronounced him dead at the scene. Kenosha County Eye
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A human trafficking suppression operation in Lake County, Illinois led to the arrest of 27 men including three Kenosha County residents—Daniel Corona, 29, of Pleasant Prairie; Adam S.W. Porwit, 26, of Twin Lakes; and Mathew Reynolds, 23, of Pleasant Prairie who allegedly tried to purchase sex online. Kenosha County Eye
- ➤ Chase A. Zanin, 34, of Kenosha faced felony and misdemeanor charges — he allegedly broke into his father's shed, stole a lawnmower, and scrapped his father's vehicle for $150 on June 28th. Kenosha County Eye
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Miss Kenosha Nellyka Dennis won the STEM scholarship at the Miss Wisconsin pageant held June 15 to 21 by submitting a 100-word essay on how science changed her life. She uses her engineering skills to lead her Starship Science program, which teaches science lessons in local schools and at Uptown Kenosha Public Library this summer and fall — boosting science learning in the community. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Southeastern Wisconsin residents in Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties received over $10 million from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development to fund workforce programs such as CNC boot camps at Gateway and commercial driver’s license training, which includes a program at Ellsworth Correction Center—a grant worth over $600,000 will support 60 participants in two cohorts. - ➤ Kenosha is kicking off its Independence Day celebration today with the Civic Veterans Parade presented by Snap-on featuring veterans groups, marching bands and entertainers along a route that starts on Seventh Avenue at Washington Road and ends at Library Park — streets will be closed from noon to about 3:45 p.m. — Additional adjustments include one-way lanes on July 3, no vehicle access on Simmons Island on July 4 and free shuttle and streetcar services to help residents reach festival and fireworks areas.
