ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Kenosha County resident Sammi Hamilton fell 15 feet in a rope swing accident on Fourth of July, suffering three facial fractures, a broken arm, two brain bleeds, and lost most of her teeth while her brother Jerrad Hamilton—kitchen manager at Milwaukee Burger Company in Pleasant Prairie—launched a fundraiser and set a donation event to help cover her medical expenses.  TMJ-4

CRIME NEWS

  • A Kenosha man with a history of drug and felony convictions was charged with four new felonies—including smuggling drugs into jail—after a deputy discovered cocaine, marijuana, a scale and packaging materials during a late-night traffic stop on Highway 50; his bail was set at $7,500 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 16.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A homeless repeat sex offender—Dale H. Lassiter, 29—appeared in court Tuesday at the Kenosha County Detention Center to plead guilty to two new assault cases and to represent himself.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Estela Navarro, 44, of Kenosha faced a felony forgery charge after allegedly cashing a stolen federal tax refund check from her former roommate + she appeared in court yesterday.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A Kenosha man with a history of posing as an eye doctor drove drunk, crashed into another car and threatened to assault a police officer while out on bond in other cases—he was set with $10,000 bail on July 8.  Kenosha County Eye

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials warned residents and business owners yesterday about fake invoices that falsely appeared to come from the Planning Commission — these bills claimed permit work was approved and demanded immediate wire transfers. City Administrator John Morrissey urged people to verify any document with city staff and report suspicious invoices to the appropriate city departments.  Kenosha County Eye
  • The Kenosha Water Utility received a high quality water rating in its latest consumer report, showing that the system met established standards.  Kenosha News
  • The Kenosha Plan Commission will review plans on Thursday for a new Downtown grocery store, hotel, and Pizza Ranch restaurant on Green Bay Road—officials say the proposals are part of a series of major projects—aimed at boosting local development.  Kenosha News
