CRIME NEWS

  • A 35-year-old Kenosha woman was charged with a misdemeanor OWI 3rd offense on Wednesday after crashing her black Chevy Impala into two parked vehicles on 34th Avenue and fleeing the scene—prosecutors say the charge will likely become a felony if she is convicted in a pending case, with a $2,500 bail set and a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 1.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Kamryn Gant, 18, of Kenosha was scheduled to appear in adult court Wednesday afternoon for allegedly bringing a knife to school earlier this year but he failed to show up—prompting a court commissioner to issue a warrant for his arrest.  Kenosha County Eye

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Kenosha School Board approved no-cost and low-cost school security enhancements Tuesday night following an incident at Roosevelt Elementary last year. The measures include locking classroom doors at all times—inspecting classrooms for safe areas—and a $22,000 annual contract to monitor online chatter while the board seeks alternative funding for secure entrances at seven schools.  WGTD

  • A county emergency readiness assessment criticized the leadership of then-Sheriff David Beth, then-County Executive Jim Kreuser, and then-Mayor John Antaramian for leaving Kenosha unprepared during the violent riots that followed the police shooting of Jacob Blake in 2020.
