  • The Kenosha Community Foundation created a new endowment fund to help local nonprofits fill the gap from federal cuts—a large donation began the fundraising drive and Amy Greil praised the Kenosha Literacy Council.  WGTD
  • Families in Kenosha County are invited to join National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. at seven locations to meet local law enforcement and enjoy free food, games, music, prizes, and interactive demonstrations—each site offering special programming for its neighborhood, including a celebration at Petzke Park with free hot dogs and library card sign-ups.  Kenosha County Eye

CRIME NEWS

  • A Kenosha woman with a history of domestic abuse convictions was charged with felony domestic battery and disorderly conduct after allegedly attacking her boyfriend during an early morning dispute on Friday, August 1—bail was set at $1,000.  Kenosha County Eye

  • Blue House Books in Downtown Kenosha is wrapping up summer with a series of events, including a Meet and Greet with author Audrey Wilson today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for her new thriller release—additional signings, story times, and a Blind Date with a Book promotion are scheduled through August 31.  Kenosha.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kenosha Public Library’s Northside branch is operating reduced hours for two weeks after its air conditioning failed; it reopened Thursday with service from 9 a.m. to noon and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on most weekdays. Curbside service will be available during closures and normal hours will resume on Aug. 15 when a new unit is installed — free Wi-Fi is still offered in the parking lot.  WLIP
  • Twin Lakes Fire and Rescue will host a multi-jurisdictional multiple casualty incident training exercise on August 3 at Thelen Farm in Twin Lakes—organizers plan the simulation to test emergency readiness among local agencies.  Kenosha News
