CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Valorie J. Gruber-Grout, 45, from Kenosha has been charged with three crimes—negligent handling of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and recklessly endangering safety—after prosecutors said she fired a bullet into a neighbor’s apartment on Nov. 10, 2024, narrowly missing a woman on her couch; she will appear in court on Sept. 18. - ➤ Tremper High School Baseball earned the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for the seventh year in a row by keeping a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2024-25 school year—one of nine Wisconsin teams and 299 nationwide—and the honor shows strong team effort from players, coaches, teachers, and families. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ UW-Parkside launched a new green-infrastructure project to keep stormwater out of Kenosha streets and the Pike River by soaking rain into the ground. - ➤ Kenosha County received its fifth consecutive AAA bond rating from S&P Global Ratings, saving taxpayers millions in borrowing costs for major projects, County Executive Samantha Kerkman said Friday. Chairman Monica Yuhas said strong fiscal management and expected growth from companies like Microsoft support the county’s healthy financial outlook—helping secure lower interest rates on future investments.
