COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A community celebration will be held on Sunday, Aug. 24—marking the 100th anniversary of the Kenosha County Courthouse building’s dedication—and residents are invited to join the event.  Kenosha News

CRIME NEWS

  • Valorie J. Gruber-Grout, 45, from Kenosha has been charged with three crimes—negligent handling of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and recklessly endangering safety—after prosecutors said she fired a bullet into a neighbor’s apartment on Nov. 10, 2024, narrowly missing a woman on her couch; she will appear in court on Sept. 18.  Kenosha County Eye

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tremper High School Baseball earned the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for the seventh year in a row by keeping a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2024-25 school year—one of nine Wisconsin teams and 299 nationwide—and the honor shows strong team effort from players, coaches, teachers, and families.  Kenosha.com

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • UW-Parkside launched a new green-infrastructure project to keep stormwater out of Kenosha streets and the Pike River by soaking rain into the ground. The project is the first phase of a five-phase improvement plan along University Drive—if successful it could serve as a model for campuses and cities.  TMJ-4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kenosha County received its fifth consecutive AAA bond rating from S&P Global Ratings, saving taxpayers millions in borrowing costs for major projects, County Executive Samantha Kerkman said Friday. Chairman Monica Yuhas said strong fiscal management and expected growth from companies like Microsoft support the county’s healthy financial outlook—helping secure lower interest rates on future investments.  WLIP

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Kenosha Mayor’s Office will host a series of blood drives starting Aug. 27 as part of the Abbott/Big Ten “We Give Blood” competition—Mayor Bogdala and city leaders will join the first drive at the Kenosha Museum, and additional dates are planned to boost donations amid a national shortage.  Kenosha County Eye
