ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A child of a Kenosha police officer was injured in an accidental gun shot Tuesday afternoon on the city’s south side—emergency responders arrived promptly to assist.  Kenosha County Eye

CRIME NEWS

  • A Kenosha man was charged with felony and misdemeanor counts for stalking and threatening a woman after sending hostile messages—police say he led officers on a high-speed chase and later showed up at her home twice.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A Zion man—Anthony Neal, 53—was charged Wednesday with two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide after he opened fire outside Arbor Green Apartments Monday night; bail was set at $250,000.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Kenosha police filed arrest warrants for two men after arriving at the Family Dollar on 22nd Avenue on August 3 after receiving a report of shots fired – the investigation is ongoing.  Kenosha News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Kenosha Murals Project will host a free block party Saturday from 1-8 p.m. at 624 57th St.—the event will include live music, food vendors and art stations and is part of a plan to complete nine murals that celebrate our city’s art and culture.  WLIP

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Herzing University will welcome students back on September 3 with classes held on campus and online. The school will introduce new Doctor of Nursing Education and Bachelor of Social Work programs to meet local workforce needs.  Kenosha.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Kenosha Common Council declared September as Recovery Month during Monday’s meeting and council members shared personal stories about their struggles with addiction to encourage hope for locals. The resolution, sponsored by Alderperson Dominic Ruffalo — who has long supported recovery efforts — passed unanimously to promote local help.  WLIP
  • The Kenosha County Board voted Monday to purchase a $425,000 property at 11312 Burlington Road for housing sex offenders under supervised release to meet a court order after years of failed placement attempts—officials said the county paid 28% over the asking price to avoid increasing fines. The state will lease the property for $2,000 to $3,000 monthly, and the county plans to sell it for commercial use once the program is no longer needed.  WLIP
