COMMUNITY NEWS

  • City staff dropped off 2,783 pounds of nonperishable food at the Shalom Center on Monday as part of a friendly drive linked to last week’s Cubs—Brewers series, while Kenosha County donated 1,927 pounds to The Sharing Center in Trevor. County Executive Samantha Kerkman honored the wager by wearing a Chicago Cubs jersey during a meeting with Mayor David Bogdala.  Kenosha County Eye

CRIME NEWS

  • On August 25, a 31-year-old Kenosha man was charged in court with trespassing and disorderly conduct after he entered a neighbor’s home during a domestic dispute with his partner—he had been drinking heavily and forced his partner out earlier from their home.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A 32-year-old Pleasant Prairie woman was charged with felony hit-and-run and second-degree recklessly endangering safety after she fled the scene of a Saturday night crash that injured two people — police quickly located her when officers spotted her blue shorts as she ran on foot.  WLIP
  • Mikel L. Robers, 18, of Burlington was formally charged on August 26 for a series of burglaries across Kenosha County involving stolen vehicles, firearms, and electronics — bail was set at $15,000.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A 38-year-old Kenosha man, Cordero J. Jefferson, faced court Tuesday—while on three active bonds—after allegedly threatening gas station employees, carrying a large knife and resisting police.  Kenosha County Eye
  • A 55-year-old Kenosha man with a lengthy criminal history was charged Tuesday after allegedly leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase through city streets while his license was revoked — bail was set at $10,000.  Kenosha County Eye

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Wisconsin-Parkside named Dr. Lesley Heins Walker as senior vice provost and dean of the faculty on Monday—she has led the College of Arts and Humanities since 2015. The appointment will expand high-demand programs and strengthen regional partnerships in southeastern Wisconsin.  WLIP

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today the Kenosha Mayor’s Office supports a blood donation drive at the Kenosha Museum where donors receive an exclusive limited-edition T-shirt and help UW-Madison compete — aiming to win $1 million from Abbott to support community and student health. City leaders and Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin facilitate the drive that continues through Dec. 5 to address the blood shortage.  Kenosha.com
