CRIME NEWS

  • Over Labor Day weekend, two locked trailers at Habitat for Humanity in Kenosha were broken into—nearly $10K in power tools, saws, drills and equipment was stolen, but leaders said a Tool Recovery Fund will help replace the items as volunteers continue building homes.  TMJ-4
  • Two Chicago men (18-year-old Adonis Kellum and 20-year-old Amarion Owens) face felony charges in Kenosha after a woman accused them of stealing thousands of dollars in clothing and personal items from her home, with one allegedly pulling a concealed gun when confronted.  Kenosha County Eye

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Pike River Classic 'Farewell to Summer' Music Festival will take place Sept 6th on the Lakefront in Kenosha and will feature live music, local food trucks, contests and more to support local non-profits through a partnership with the Kenosha Wrestling Academy — a program that trains local youth. Main events include shows from Indigo Canyon and Music Tailspin—plus a pie-eating contest and a golden retriever photo competition for all ages.  Kenosha.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a Wednesday meeting, the Kenosha Common Council approved licenses, zoning measures, legal settlements, and monitored a bartender license with pending criminal charges along with an outdoor extension for Kenosha Beer Gardens LLC. Council also approved zoning for the Uptown redevelopment plan, over $3 million in water bonds, opioid litigation settlements, and a $93,000 tree planting contract—decisions that will guide future city projects.  WLIP
  • Kenosha County approved the purchase of a three-bedroom home in Somers for $425,000 to serve as a halfway house for up to three sex offenders who will be under house arrest for the first year of treatment—closing is expected by Thursday.  Kenosha News
