  • Liv is a 4-year-old pup available for adoption at the Wisconsin Humane Society Kenosha Campus. She weighs 55 pounds, is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped, and her adoption fee is $75—visit during adoption hours to meet her.  Kenosha.com

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Ron Hetrick, a senior labor economist at Lightcast, will speak today at a Business and Professional Coalition luncheon in Kenosha where he challenges the U.S. Labor Department’s 3% workforce growth forecast for the next ten years. He noted that a declining birthrate, early retirements, and a less motivated younger generation may keep workforce growth lower than predicted — urging a shift in hiring strategies.  WGTD

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wisconsin schools superintendent Jill Underly condemned the planned end of federal education grants after her office was informed Friday that funding for the State Personnel Development Grant and the Wisconsin Deafblind Technical Assistance Project will cease on Sept 30.  Kenosha News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A conservative watchdog group filed a lawsuit Tuesday in federal court against the Wisconsin Judicial Commission, alleging that a state law forces secrecy on dismissed misconduct complaints and violates the First Amendment—if the gag rule is struck down, it could increase transparency in how judges are held accountable.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Kenosha’s Public Works Committee approved contracts to demolish four former school buildings, awarding $542,000 for Lincoln Elementary and $2 million for Washington Middle and McKinley Elementary and Middle with a 15% contingency for unforeseen issues. The City Council will review final approval Monday as plans for about 30 new homes on the McKinley site aim to address the affordable housing shortage — demolition will start this winter.  WLIP
  • Today, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals ruled that Circuit Judge Chad Kerkman stripped a Kenosha mother of her newborn child without due process — she had entrusted the baby to a friend while detained on a probation violation. The ruling criticizes a pattern of judicial overreach and sends the case back for a new hearing.  Kenosha County Eye

  • Kenosha County Behavioral Health Services launched a new mental health and substance use resource for pregnant women, aiming to reduce stigma and support better care during pregnancy—offering both an online guide and a printed brochure.
