CULTURE NEWS

  • Moonglow—a film that mixes romance, tragedy and comedy—is premiering at the Rhode Theater in Downtown Kenosha today.  Kenosha News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Judge Chad Kerkman lost control at the courthouse when he threatened Commissioner William Michel II—first over allowing courtroom photography and later because Michel missed a meeting for a medical appointment. Court insiders said his rampage was dangerous and could hurt Michel’s career.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Gov. Tony Evers ordered U.S. and state flags to be flown at half-staff on September 11 from sunrise to sunset—honoring nearly 3,000 victims of the Sept. 11 attacks—and declared the day a statewide Day of Service and Remembrance as his administration joined volunteer events.  WLIP
  • On September 10, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals overturned Judge Chad Kerkman’s decision that stripped a mother of her rights by ruling that his claim against local attorney Beth had no legal foundation—allowing the mother to pursue a fresh trial and fueling concerns over his repeated actions. The ruling adds to worries in Kenosha about improper judicial conduct.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Data centers with high energy demand are planned for Wisconsin—proposals in Dodge County, Port Washington, and Kenosha will boost electricity use and require grid upgrades. Utility officials say the data center owners must pay for these changes while the state Public Service Commission decides on the final funding arrangements.  Kenosha News
  • Yesterday, the Assembly passed Rep. Amanda Nedweski’s bill that requires state workers to be in the office at least 80% of the time. The bill now moves to the Senate for review—supporters say it addresses issues from extended remote work during COVID.  Kenosha County Eye
