BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Two Kenosha businesses hit by fires are slowly rebuilding — The Coffee Pot diner, which was damaged over a year ago, plans to fully reopen in January after a complicated restoration, and Elsie Mae's Pies and Pints will soon begin demolishing its burned building to clear the way for a temporary structure as its owner requested a short-term beer and liquor license extension. The Kenosha License and Permit Committee recommended both extensions with some adjustments. WGTD
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Former County Board Supervisor Andrew Berg was found in contempt of court Monday morning for failing to pay child support for nearly a year—he has been ordered to serve 120 days in jail. Kenosha County Eye

- ➤ The Italian American Society of Kenosha held its inaugural Italian Fest over the weekend at Celebration Place—5501 Ring Rd in Downtown Kenosha. Kenosha News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kenosha Unified School District reported an enrollment of 17,799 students in its state-mandated Third Friday count—723 fewer than last year's total. The district said lower birth rates and more school options outside the district are causing the drop—factors that will affect future state aid and local tax revenue. WLIP
- ➤ University of Wisconsin-Parkside earned a Silver Award of Excellence from the Brandon Hall Group—its training program for global accessibility received this honor. The award highlights the school's commitment to advancing accessible training in Somers. Kenosha News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Somers officials said calls for help have risen nearly 320% since 2017 as 1,662 calls were recorded last year – many for medical reasons – and Fire Chief Ben Andersen said the village will hire eight full-time firefighter/paramedics and one sheriff deputy while a survey on funding options will soon be sent to residents.
