- ➤ Kenosha Dream Playground turns 10 and is a barrier-free place for kids—built by over 3,000 volunteers and inspired by young Amity when she was 7. The community celebrates today at Petzke Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with founder Tammy Conforti and local residents honoring a decade of safe play. TMJ-4
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Kenosha Creative Space is a downtown nonprofit that shows murals, music, and art events and brings together Latino voices under the guidance of Francisco Loyola—who has shaped local creative projects for over a decade. The hub holds live music, open mic nights, and salsa classes and will host the Latin Dance Social called Vamos a Bailar: Halloween Edition on October 24 at 8 p.m. TMJ-4
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Roosevelt Elementary fourth grader Michael Stanley won Kenosha County’s ATOD Slogan Contest with his entry 'Staying Drug-Free is My Responsibility.' His winning words will serve as the theme for the county’s 2025—26 drug prevention campaign, and a kickoff assembly with student performances and guest speakers will be held at 9 a.m. on Oct. 20 at his school. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Kenosha Professional Police Association and City of Kenosha reached a tentative three-year contract that gives a 2.5% raise in the first year and 3% in the next two years — the deal will be reviewed by the City Finance Committee and the Common Council on October 6. Kenosha County Eye
- ➤ On Oct. 3, District Attorney Xavier Solis said the office lost many experienced prosecutors and had only 12 of its 21 and a half prosecutor slots filled, but he expects to have 15 by the end of October — he is spending more time in courtrooms as he focuses on violent crimes and crimes involving children.
