BUSINESS NEWS

  • Microsoft scrapped its plan for a data center in Caledonia due to strong community opposition and will search for a new site in Racine County, while its projects in Mount Pleasant and Kenosha continue as planned.  WGTD
  • Local bar and restaurant owners in Kenosha have found no Class B beer and liquor licenses available—this shortage may stall plans to open new establishments.  Kenosha News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local youth created two new murals this summer that will soon be displayed at the Kenosha County courthouse and Hillcrest School. The art pieces will brighten public spaces—showcasing local talent.  Kenosha News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Kenosha City Council approved creation of a rail line commission for a proposed passenger route from Kenosha through Racine to the Milwaukee area — a move expected to guide future transit planning.  Kenosha News
  • The Kenosha City Council approved a new three-year labor agreement with the Kenosha Professional Police Association on Monday night.  Kenosha News
  • The Kenosha Common Council approved a resolution Monday to raise the land lease rental rate at Kenosha Regional Airport to 35 cents per square foot, effective Jan. 1, 2026. The measure—sponsored by Mayor David Bogdala and following an Airport Commission recommendation—offsets rising operating costs and passed unanimously.  WLIP
  • County Executive Samantha Kerkman presented the 2026 budget Tuesday night and said the property tax rate would drop even though the levy increased slightly. She noted that more than half of the levy funds would go to public safety — with over $12 million added for 2026 — and that funds would also be used to repave 13 miles of roadway and support key infrastructure projects while keeping the county's AAA bond rating.  Kenosha County Eye
