COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Rain led organizers to move Kenosha’s Fall Into Fun Festival to Oct. 25, and the free event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park outside City Hall — it will feature music, contests, and pumpkin giveaways for families.  Kenosha County Eye
  • The City of Kenosha Parks Department will transform Washington Municipal Golf Course (2205 Washington Road) into a winter wonderland for its Third Annual Magic at Muni, a free holiday lights walk running from Nov 29 through Dec 28. Visitors may stroll a scenic loop that is 0.33 miles long on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 5 to 8 p.m. (extra parking is available at Washington Park) and warm up with treats in the decorated clubhouse.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Residents and visitors can enjoy the fourth annual free Halloween lights tour that starts today+ runs until Oct. 31 as it lets people drive through Pleasant Prairie to see local homes decorated for the season.  Kenosha News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Oct. 16th at 10:30 a.m., Carthage College students worked on NASA projects that built both technical and project management skills while tackling challenges like rocket re-use and space refueling—helping them gain real-world experience and raise funds. The team won a prize that will fund research by building an experimental payload for suborbital flight testing by April 1st.  WGTD

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The fall curbside compostables collection program began on Oct. 6 and will collect yard waste through Nov. 29.  Kenosha News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Detective Pete Deates was honored at the State Capitol yesterday with the Legislature’s Hometown Heroes Award as 2025 First Responder of the Year for his work with Kenosha’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit—nominated by Representative Tip McGuire and citizens from the 64th Assembly District.  Kenosha County Eye
  • State Rep. Amanda Nedweski announced she drafted three bills to strengthen student safety and crack down on sexual misconduct and grooming by school staff. The proposals include a new offense for grooming minors, guidelines for staff-student communication, and closing a loophole that let teachers avoid further checks—an informational hearing is set for October 23 at 11 a.m.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Congressman Bryan Steil and six GOP members sent a letter urging Governor Tony Evers to reverse his decision to block Wisconsin from joining a new federal tax credit scholarship program that helps low- and middle-income families pay for education. They said the move denies families needed help as school costs continue to rise.  Kenosha County Eye
