COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Kenosha's Bowls & Bakers contest will host its 22nd annual soup tasting event on Nov. 5 from 11 a.m.—organizers say the event will feature what they call the best soups west of I-94.  Kenosha News
  • The annual Fall Into Fun Festival has been rescheduled to Oct. 25 and will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park near City Hall. The event—sponsored by the City of Kenosha and the Lakeshore Business Improvement District—offers free contests, prizes and music for kids and families.  Kenosha.com
  • The City of Kenosha Parks Department is inviting local businesses, organizations and community groups to sponsor the third annual Magic at Muni holiday lights event at the Municipal Golf Course from Nov. 29 through Dec. 28, running Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 9 p.m. Sponsors can choose from tiers ranging from a presenting sponsor at $2,500 to a cookie sponsor at $75 plus reserved custom display space for additional branding.  Kenosha County Eye

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A 22-year-old political science major from Carthage College, Zachary Roper, has announced his run for governor, saying that Wisconsin needs new leadership and unity. He promised to improve education, raise teacher pay & repair aging infrastructure to build a better state.  TMJ-4

HEALTH NEWS

  • During National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, Kenosha County Public Health urged eligible homeowners and landlords to use the federally funded Live Lead Safe program—which covers up to 85% of construction costs to remove or reduce lead paint hazards—in older homes across Kenosha and Racine counties. The program targets properties built before 1978 and prioritizes those with young children, pregnant women and daycares so qualified residents can get the needed help.  Kenosha County Eye
