- ➤ The Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency is preparing for a surge in food requests as federal SNAP benefits end today, and local food pantries (including the Salvation Army) are receiving more calls for help. - ➤ The nominations for the 2026 Susan B. Anthony Women of Influence Award are open—forms for nominations, scholarships and nonprofit grants must be submitted by 5 p.m. December 5. Recipients will be honored at the 35th Annual Women of Influence Dinner on March 27—this event will be held at UW-Parkside’s Alfred and Bernice De Simone Arena. Kenosha.com
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mount Pleasant has selected Dustin Ellis as chief of the South Shore Fire Department after more than 15 years of service, including his role as interim chief. He will lead 69 members who are expected to handle over 6,400 calls for service in 2025 and plans to grow the department as the community expands. WLIP
