COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Kenosha communities and organizations held Veterans Day observances that honored local veterans and their sacrifices—bringing residents together to pay tribute. The events recognized the commitment of those who served and stood as a reminder of the community’s respect.  Kenosha News
  • Peru is a 6-year-old gentle giant available for adoption at the Wisconsin Humane Society Kenosha Campus—he weighs 78 pounds, loves to snuggle, and is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.  Kenosha.com
  • The Salvation Army of Kenosha County will launch its annual Red Kettle Campaign tomorrow — aiming to raise $135,000 in kettle donations and $292,000 overall to fund local food, housing, clothing and youth services — as volunteers ring bells at local businesses.  Kenosha County Eye
  • Kenosha County 4-H will host its free Festival of Trees on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Kenosha County Center in Bristol from 2 to 5 p.m.—families can view over 20 decorated trees, enjoy treats, crafts, games and a visit from Santa, and are encouraged to bring nonperishable food for The Sharing Center.  Kenosha County Eye

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Recent reports criticized the Hard Rock casino agreement in Kenosha, saying its plans for DEI hiring may hurt local workers by setting quotas that benefit certain groups and out-of-state contractors — the MacIver Institute said the policy does not work. The $360 million project will bring jobs and money to the area if it gets the needed federal and state approvals.  Kenosha County Eye

CULTURE NEWS

  • Anita Anderson & Gary Beltoya reunited near Kenosha after a letter friendship that began during the Vietnam War. Anderson was 7 when she first wrote to Beltoya, and the two say they will keep writing to honor their long bond.  TMJ-4

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A new virtual charter school called Southeast Virtual Academy—a first in Wisconsin—will open in western Kenosha County in fall 2026 and will be managed by Westosha Central High School District.  Kenosha News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman announced that Richard Ferrari Traner has been appointed as the new Health Officer and Director of Public Health. He began serving on an interim basis this week — his appointment will be reviewed by the County Board on Nov. 18.  Kenosha County Eye
