- ➤ The United Way of Kenosha County, Kenosha YMCA and BCU have partnered to launch the Every Child Warm in the Winter clothing drive for Frank Elementary students in grades 4K through 5 to help them stay warm and ready to learn. Donations of winter coats, hats, mittens or gloves will be accepted at four local drop-off locations until Dec 6—ensuring students are prepared for the cold months. Kenosha.com
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ R. Scott Pierce, 78, a longtime board member for Gateway Technical College and former leader at Kenosha Unified and Westosha Central, died Thursday night—with no cause of death given. He served on Gateway's board for 16 years and had been working on a committee to choose the college's next president. WGTD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Captain Christiansen—who led American Legion Post 21 for four years and serves as a captain in the National Guard—will deploy to the Middle East in '26. Kenosha News
- ➤ On Monday, the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission approved SAVECO North America, Inc.'s plan to relocate from Gurnee to a 92,261-square-foot space at 7809 100th Street in LakeView Corporate Park. The move will transfer 44 employees and add about 33 new full-time jobs — supporting daily manufacturing and shipping operations. WLIP
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Society’s Assets supports people with vision loss by providing independent living resources and a peer support group called RevitalEyes. The nonprofit held its monthly meeting on October 9 at St. Catherine’s Commons Community Room at 3224 7th Avenue — it also reminded drivers to follow the White Cane Traffic Law to protect pedestrians.
